Unique User Interface Leads to Enhanced Visualizations, Superior Designs and Improved Patient Outcomes.
TORONTO – Nia Technologies Inc. and West Park Healthcare Centre plan to form a new for-profit company with an outside investor to market, sell and continuously improve Nia’s prosthetics and orthotics (P&O) design and production software.
“This partnership brings together a specialized software developer and a specialized rehabilitation hospital with extensive clinical expertise to produce P&O devices using 3D printers and subtractive milling carvers,” said Jerry Evans, President, Nia Technologies.
Nia’s innovative software is built on a gaming framework, combining parametric computer-aided design and direct mesh editing workflows which enable patients to receive custom devices in less time and with improved fit.
Early versions of Nia’s software have undergone clinical studies in Cambodia, Tanzania and Uganda and have completed ISO “million-step” tests by an independent testing organization in Belgium. This partnership will aim to commercialize Nia’s software in high-income countries, but also allow Nia’s non-profit work to continue to support humanitarian P&O initiatives in low-income countries.
“We look forward to working with Nia Technologies in an effort to continue to improve the software in support of improved patient outcomes,“ said Corinne Wong, Vice President, Finance and CFO, West Park Healthcare Centre.
